Shoalhaven Family History Research Services
We offer a research service for those who are unable to visit our library. The standard service is intended to research specific queries dealing with a particular family or problem. An initial, non-refundable, search fee of $25 covers the first 2 hours of time spent searching our Society’s library resources, local newspapers, family files and local knowledge.
This fee will cover limited photocopying and postage if necessary, or results can be emailed. Each extra hour spent will be charged at $10, but will only proceed after your authorisation.
We can supply some Shoalhaven birth, marriage and death records for an extra charge, see below.
Please make your requests clear, with enough detail to identify your person of interest. If you hold certificates or other relevant details, please advise so that we do not duplicate information already in your possession.
Your research names will be published in our journal, the Time Traveller, which is distributed to our members and many other Australian & overseas societies thus further increasing your chance of connections.
We may charge the following fees for any extra copying or printouts after the initial fee of $25 has been spent.
We Have a New Research Service
If you know someone who would love to know their family history but is unable to do the research, we can build their tree for them.
A professional genealogist will charge fees upwards of $150 per hour, but we have a package available at a very reasonable price of $150.
HOW IT WORKS
Our researcher will meet the client in person, if local, or liaise by email/phone, if further afield, to discuss the tree, free of charge. Using facts and documents they supply, we will build their tree for them, filling in the gaps where we can.
This is not confined to the Shoalhaven as our research centre has worldwide access and records.
The resulting report will be presented in a word document if emailed, or book form, which will incur postage at Australia Post rates.
